How the Subaru Crosstrek Overshadows Less-Impressive Crossover SUVs in the Savannah, Fort Stewart, Wilmington Island, and Georgetown Area

Most family crossover are merely sporty looking vehicles. The Subaru Crosstrek delivers the athleticism promised by its rugged (yet refined) exterior. It also offer the safety, practicality, and value that its Subaru-branding promises.

Shopping for the new Subaru Crosstrek in Savannah is easy when you have the resources of Chatham Parkway Subaru (not to mention our selection). We went ahead and completed some comparison shopping for you, pitting the 2016 Crosstrek against its Kia rival, the 2016 Sportage. You can check out our findings below:

The 2016 Subaru Crosstrek versus the 2016 Kia Sportage

  • In quintessential Subaru fashion, the Crosstrek boasts a standard all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, delivering affordable all-weather capability that the front-wheel-drive Sportage simply cannot compete with. You have to pay more for the luxury of AWD surefootedness when you buy the Sportage.
  • The 2016 Crosstrek boasts a five-star government crash test rating while the 2016 Sportage trails with four. The Crosstrek also receives the highest possible Top Safety Pick+ designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Sportage didn't make any IIHS lists for 2016.
  • Part of the Crosstrek's superior safety ratings come from the Subaru EyeSight® suite of safety systems, which bundle adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, and lane-departure warnings. The Sportage doesn't offer any of these drive assist technologies.
  • Even opting for the base model gives Crosstrek drivers a 6.2-inch touchscreen with smartphone app integration. Entry-level Sportage drivers have to pay more for these creature comforts.

  • Roof rails are standard equipment with the rugged Crosstrek. Kia asks Sportage drivers to pay more to equip the base model with them.
  • The Crosstrek's available hybrid powertrain is a green-driving alternative for fuel-conscious consumers. The Sportage can only come equipped with a gas engine.
  • Even when you stick with the traditional powertrain, the gas-powered Crosstrek earns much better fuel economy ratings than the Sportage.
  • The Crosstrek is lighter and longer than the Sportage with more front headroom and legroom as well as rear hiproom.
  • Overall, it's clear that the Crosstrek is the better value for the price. Not only does it offer more capability, technology, and reliability right out of the gate, but it's also available at a lower starting cost than the Sportage.
